Juvenile Crime Lawyers in Sevierville, TN
Representing Minors in Knox, Sevier & Jefferson Counties
In Tennessee and across the country, minors face different proceedings and penalties if they are accused of committing crimes. Juvenile justice programs are geared toward rehabilitating minors instead of simply penalizing them for their illegal acts. Even so, minors need legal representation in the juvenile court system. They have rights that should be protected, and that is the goal at Andrew Farmer Law.
We represent minors across Knox County, Sevier County, and Jefferson County who have been accused of status offenses or delinquent offenses, and we draw upon years of legal experience in juvenile justice proceedings to pursue the best results possible. These cases are nothing like criminal cases for adults – they require the attention of attorneys with specific experience in juvenile justice.

Types of Juvenile Offenses in Tennessee
There are two types of offenses that may be committed by a minor:
- Status offenses are only against the law because of the offender’s age. Truancy, cigarette possession, underage drinking, and running away are examples of status offenses, and the initial penalty is typically probation. A violation of probation after a status offense may result in placement in DCS (Department of Children’s Services) custody.
- Delinquent offenses are crimes regardless of the offender’s age. Delinquent offenses may be classified as misdemeanors or felonies depending on the nature of the offense and any aggravating or mitigating factors. Theft, drug crimes, assault, robbery, and using a false ID are examples of delinquent offenses. Penalties may include probation, community service, placement in a community-based facility, or placement in a youth development center. In some cases, a minor who is 16 years of age or older may be treated as an adult and subject to the same proceedings and penalties as an adult would face.
